An artcile on the 2010 Crossfit Games in Forbes. It’s great to see it defined as a “sport” here instead of a fitness regime. Written by Dr. Patrick Rishe.

Compare yourself to the fittest

jamesonjjordan:

So the Crossfit Games site just put out a post on the results of the Games and an explanation of how they worked. It was interesting to see how it all added up. Fo those of you who are interested, you can see how they were scored, and, if you so choose to do these WODs, you can see how you stack up vs the fittest men/women on earth.

ooooh I am so tempted to see how I measure up but at the same time paralyzed with fear to even try.  I may have to crush it out secretly in my garage.

Appologies

It is summer,  I am still working out but I am just not wanting to come indoors when the weather is nice to keep up with it.  I know journaling is important so I am going to try and get back on the horse.  I just need to have a little motivation!

A user from Sicfit created this. He took bits and pieces from various videos featuring Spealler and put it together with a speech from Michael Jordan in the background. Pretty cool if you ask me.

I know I am a food blog, but I thought this was pretty inspirational from a fitness perspective.  (Maybe it’s because Chris Spealler reminds me of my husband as they are both small and lean compared to the traditional crossfit athlete)

Awesome.

Lunch

Lunch today, but I am skipping on the yogurt.  This fine recipe comes from Clean Eating Magazine.

Fruit Salad

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup halved green seedless grapes
  • 1 cup quartered strawberries
  • 1/2 cup blueberries
  • 2 tbsp raw honey
  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1 tsp poppy seeds
  • 1/4 cup unsalted pistachios
  • 1/4 cup unsalted walnuts
  • 1/2 cup low-fat plain yogurt

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Toss grapes, strawberries, blueberries, honey, lime juice and poppy seeds together in a bowl and let sit at room temperature for 30 minutes.

  2. In a pan over medium heat, toast pistachios and walnuts for about 5 minutes or until fragrant, making sure to constantly stir or toss nuts. Roughly chop toasted nuts and toss them with fruit. Serve a scoop of fruit salad with a dollop of yogurt.
